About this site
What’s the big idea?
The ultimate idea behind this site is for you to stay happy and safe on-line, by learning what you need to know. It’s all about saving time, money and frustration on the Internet. You’ll learn how to be more productive - how to find stuff you want quickly. Equally important: how to avoid annoying distractions - the web annoyances. How to protect yourself, your friends and family from the bad stuff on the Internet.

Site Ethos
Now of course, this isn’t the only site on the ‘net with useful info… But one thing that makes this site different is the site’s ethos:
- No adverts - I hate ‘em so I’m not going to foist them on you;
- Unbiased advice - except for where bias really is called for!;
- In plain English - i.e. a minimum of jargon. Stuff you need to know.
I’m not trying to push any hidden agendas - I just want to help make the Internet a better place. I’m not looking to make you buy stuff you don’t want or need! Most of what you need is available free. But if I recommend anything that isn’t free, then it’s either widely acknowledged as the best in it’s class, or I’ve used it myself.
Site history and how this site was built
This site has been around since mid-2005, but I’ve just redesigned it adding more pages and a new design. The site is designed, built and maintained by me. My name is David - .
For the technically-minded or just curious: the site’s design is based on the Safitech WordPress theme. I maintain the site using a customised version of WordPress, installed on my Mac with MAMP. The site is hosted by Site Sell’s Site Build It! - check them out if you want to build a successful business online.
